The Wildfox swimwear for 2014 had a clear inspiration in the 80's and Barbie look and the labels show started to the tune of Mariah Carey's Dream Lover, setting a fun, carefree tone of right from the start. The Wildfox swimwear featured gingham prints, cute daisy patterns, cabana stripes and palm prints with on one-pieces and bikinis. The hair at the Wildfox show was created by Riley McLachlan from Snip Salon Miami and took inspiration from icons of the 1990's including Claudia Schiffer and Kate Moss. Each model had an individual look with texture and volume being the unifying trend. Equally as exciting looks were on show at the Rip Curl show, which took place at sunset in the penthouse suite of the Raleigh Hotel. The Rip Curl show was inspired by the girl who loves beautiful beaches and surfing. A key look from the show were sleeved bodysuits featuring black mesh with neon colours and geometric patterns. Bikini brand Mikoh brought a tropical theme to Miami and three hula dancers started off a colourful swimwear presentation. Stunning models wore vibrant two pieces in tangerine, blue, and coral shades. The Mikoh brand run by the Miller sisters is know for modern and minimal prints and there were plenty of the signature looks on show at Miami Swim Week. A black and white palm print bikini, sexy cover-ups made from black mesh and fresh whites, plus a form fitting black neoprene rubber wetsuit were the key highlights. The final brand to catch our eye and stand out from the crowd was L*Space by Monica Wise. Inspiration for the 2014 collection came from travel and sea sirens. As the Californian based designer explained the theme was all around finding your perfect water - the perfect beach or travel destination. The collections bikini's focussed on back details, an area normally ignored in designs, by adding intricate accents to the rears of her suits. Elegant peaches, browns, corals and blues were used in the designs to capture the feeling of 'sirens of the sea'.
