How to Grow Your Hair Faster: 15 Expert Tips for Healthier Hair

Growing your hair faster is a goal many of us share, whether you're recovering from damage or simply craving extra length. While there's no overnight miracle, there are proven techniques to support healthy, accelerated hair growth. From nourishing your scalp to choosing the right products, it’s all about consistent care – and a touch of luxury. Read on as Laura Elliott, Head of Education at Neäl & Wølf shares how to grow your hair faster.

1. Scalp massages

Stimulating your scalp can increase blood circulation, allowing the hair follicles to absorb more nutrients and oxygen. Just a few minutes a day of massaging in circular motions can support stronger, healthier hair growth. This can also work as a self care moment, helping to relax, boost your mood and relieve some of life’s stresses.

2. Eat a healthy diet

Nourish your hair from the outside, in! Ensure that the below are part of your diet to help with strong hair growth. If you can’t get these in your foods, consider taking supplements alongside your diet.

Protein

Your hair is made from the protein, keratin, so consuming protein-rich foods like eggs, salmon, spinach and nuts gives your locks the nourishment they need. Help make your hair stronger by choosing protein-rich foods like lean meats, fish, eggs and nuts.

Vitamin C and E

You should also ensure that your diet includes Vitamins C and E which protect hair follicles from oxidative stress. To get these, ensure you’re eating food like citrus fruits, seeds and using vegetable oils.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D helps new healthy hair grow and can stimulate follicles too! As well as getting Vitamin D from the sun, you can ensure you’re consuming this by eating oily fish, egg yolks, red meat, and liver.

Iron

Iron helps your body make hemoglobin, which carries oxygen to hair cells to the follicles. Foods high in iron include leafy green veg, beans and dried fruits.

Zinc

Zinc can regulate the oil glands around the hair follicles, preventing the scalp from becoming greasy and restricting hair growth. Choose foods like oysters, shellfish and milk.

3. Use hydrating hair shampoo

Dry, brittle hair breaks easily, which can slow down the hair growth process. A hydrating shampoo can help keep strands soft, strong and resilient. Our HYDRATE Moisture Shampoo uses coconut acid to gently remove dirt and sebum from the scalp, as well as Vitamin E-rich shea butter extract, paving the way for healthy hair growth. We’d recommend also using our HYDRATE Moisture Conditioner, which also includes shea butter extract, as well as panthenol which helps to retain moisture.

4. Wear hair loosely

Wearing tight hairstyles too often can cause tension and breakage, especially around the hairline. Where possible, opt for relaxed styles and when you do tie your locks up, make sure that you don’t pull it back too tightly. When you have your hair loose, we’d recommend opting  for styles like beach waves or layered hairstyles with curtain bangs.

5. Use leave in conditioner

Leave-in conditioners are an essential step in any hair growth routine, as these can nourish your hair all day long, making your locks feel soft and healthy. Our HYDRATE Leave-In Conditioning Spray uses hydrolyzed vegetable protein to improve hair strength and resistance to breakage, as well as avocado oil which locks in moisture.

6. Stay on top of trims

Although hair cuts can’t make your hair grow faster, they can stimulate healthy hair growth. Regular trims help stop split ends travelling up the hair shaft, which can cause further damage. Get a trim every 6-8 weeks to keep on top of your haircare. Book in at your local salon today: Neäl & Wølf Salon Finder

7. Use a weekly hair mask

A weekly hair mask is a game-changer for hydration, repair, and resilience – key factors in promoting faster growth. We’d suggest using a solution like our HYDRATE Moisture Hair Mask, which works in as little as five to 10 minutes, and leaves hair soft, shiny and frizz-free. It includes hydrolyzed wheat protein, which can aid strong hair growth, as well as moisturising products like jojoba oil, betaine and glycerin.

8. Dry brush your hair

The simple task of brushing your hair can distribute natural oils from root to tip, enhancing shine and improving scalp health. Only brush hair when it is dry, as wet hair is much more delicate so it can snap and fall out. We’d also recommend using a boar bristle or a cushioned paddle brush to avoid tugging at the strands.

9. Protect your hair from the sun

The sun can give your locks vital Vitamin D, but too much UV exposure can weaken hair and fade colour, both of which can slow down growth. When outside for long lengths of time, we’d recommend wearing a hat or using a UV-protective spray like our MIRACLE Rapid Blow-Dry Mist - just spritz over your tresses. This product also cuts blow-drying down by up to 50%, as well as reducing frizz and static.

10. Use heat protection

Using heat styling tools without protection can damage your hair cuticles, preventing them from growing longer. Before using these tools, always use a protective barrier like our GUARD Heat Protection Spray, which helps protect against temperatures of up to 220°C. This leaves hair looking vibrant, healthy, and smooth.

11. Sleep on silk

Cotton pillowcases can cause friction and absorb moisture, leading to breakage. A silk pillowcase is gentler and helps retain your hair’s natural oils. When you’re out of bed, you can also opt for silk-lined options like scrunchies and hats to keep your tresses out of trouble.

12. Nourish with oils

Lightweight oils can help to seal in moisture, smooth frizz, and protect ends - helping to promote healthy hair growth. Our VELVET Nourishing Hair Oil combines argan, avocado and jojoba oils, giving the hair follicles the extra support that they need to get stronger. Just apply a small amount to clean, damp hair or dry hair.

13. Drink water

Hydration supports every cell in your body - including those that influence hair growth, like your hair follicles and your scalp. Not drinking enough water can leave your body feeling dehydrated, which can also impact your hair’s dryness. Aim for at least two litres of water daily to keep your scalp and hair in optimal condition.

14. Keep your scalp clean

Build up from products, oil, and pollutants can clog hair follicles and slow down growth. A clean and healthy scalp is the best environment for strands to thrive and grow! Ensure that when you shampoo, you really get in and massage every inch of the scalp. For more hair washing tips, read our blog: How Often Should You Wash Your Hair?

15. Take care with bleaching

Chemical treatments like bleaching can be harsh on the hair shaft, leading to dryness and breakage. If you are looking to colour your hair, always visit a salon who will use professional products and follow up with intensive aftercare. Always consult with your salon before considering using bleaching.

Growing your hair faster isn’t just about length - it’s about investing in the health of every strand. By following these luxurious yet practical tips, you’re not just nurturing your hair, you’re indulging it.
