So far we have seen glossy ponytails, razor sharp partings, unstructured up-dos and relaxed waves dominate the catwalks. Today we bring you up-to-date with our two favourite looks for the most on trend hairstyles for Autumn/Winter 2014. Which style will you choose? The Glossy Pony
Ponytails take a razor sharp twist this season with ultra sharp partings that create a dramatic statement. The parting gives a new twist on the classic slicked-back low pony, but to get it right you will need to pay attention to detail and get a perfectly straight parting using a fine-tooth comb. To match the sharpness of the look created by the parting it is important that the pony is kept perfectly neat with a little gloss on the finish. This look has been hot at Autumn/Winter fashion shows including Hugo Boss. To get the most out of the style and match the look seen on the catwalk, wear the ponytail low and loose down your back - remember no one likes a ponytail that's too tight, so one you have fastened in place with an elastic twist it to one side to loosen slightly. Finally try adding a little volume to your ponytail by applying a texturising product on the loose ends and backcombing. Overall this look works for most women but is especially flattering for those with high cheekbones. Mermaid Waves
The seasons most delicate and feminine look has to be the fresh out of the sea mermaid waves as seen at shows such as Giorgio Armani and Stella McCartney. The look works well with textured hair and there are a few tricks you can try to add even more texture even if your hair is fine. Adding volume gives the impression of greater depth and texture as does using a slanted side parting rather than a straight down the middle part. The look can be worked even if you already have a style cut with a fringe. Just wear it tousled and lightly parted down the middle so it blends in with your overall style. To create the waves in the hair use styling tongs and apply a mousse all the way through the hair.
