The format remains similar to last year's show with 10 contestants set to be put through a series of hairdressing challenges in order to find the stylist with the most talent. This time the programme has been promoted to BBC 2 after last year's showing on BBC 3 and Steve Jones, the host on the first series has been replaced with Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan. Judging the efforts of the stylists will be the two industry professionals - royal hairdresser Denise McAdam and David Beckham's celebrity stylist Alain Pichon. The battle to win the title of Britain's best amateur hairstylist is already underway and 4 stylists have been eliminated from the competition. Daniel, Jamie, Sarah, and Lesley all failed to make the grade after challenges involving a freestyle round where contestants were tasked to create a hairstyle themed around architecture and a launch event for London Fashion Week. Other tasks have involved styling backstage at a top London Cabaret event and creating looks based on a theme of history of the world where creations included a volcano, Grecian goddess, geishas and native american influences. Each week the judges rank each contest in order from the best performer to the worst. Those at the bottom are then asked to take part in another challenge called the Eliminator round. The Eliminator round involves a quick-fire challenge to decide who will leave the competition - tasks so far have included sleek ponytails, cornrows, mohawks and vintage waves. With the competition just about reaching the half way point, the contestants will be dreaming of taking the title and following in the footsteps of last year's winner Marvin Francis who has gone on to have worked with publications such as Harper's Bazaar, Vogue Hommes International and Diesel F&W 2014 in Venice. To catch up with the series so far visit BBC iPlayer where the first 4 episodes are available to view.
