The beauty and elegance of the 2015 Golden Globes styles left us amazed. The hair and makeup at the SAG Awards inspired us. Now the 2015 Academy Awards, which is the Holy Grail for style-watchers everywhere, spotlighted one glamorous, decadent look after the other. Just when you were sure you had a favourite, another succession of smoky eyes, elaborate updos, and breathtaking outfits appeared, forcing you to choose again. The classic updo was a reigning favourite, with different celebs offering their own interpretation. Daisy Ridley's sophisticated knotted style looked incredible with her Chanel dress while Sienna Miller's slicked-back strands gave her entire look a hot and edgy vibe. Zoe Saldana's low bun looked extra romantic with the curly strands that framed her face, and Rosamund Pike's swept-back looks added a carefree touch to her classy and composed appearance. We all loved Gina Rodriguez's low chignon, which was as gorgeous and glossy as her teal silk gown. The half-up, half-down hairstyle, known as the ‘hun' made multiple appearances. Alicia Vikander sported hers in a bun style, while Brie Larson added serious glamour with a dazzling vintage hairpiece. Emma Stone's wavy, half-up style channeled the 1920s. Gwyneth's slicked-back golden strands showed off her classic cheekbones and pearly nude lip colour. The ponytail, another perennial favourite, was interpreted in inspiring ways. Lady Gaga's show-stopping platinum locks were twisted into a low, wrapped ponytail, and Dakota Johnson was a literal Lady in Red with scarlet-hued dress and flirty ponytail. Jennifer Lopez drew applause when she appeared with her rich, caramel-streaked strands in a soft down-do. Plaits have been a popular option on the red carpet this year, and the Oscars unveiled some especially pretty versions. Olivia Wilde and Chrissy Tiegen looked like Grecian goddesses with their tightly wrapped, ultra-feminine styles. Other stars opted for a looser, more tousled look: Margot Robbie's layered locks were a universal favourite, and Kate Winslet's rippled waves made cameras go crazy. Everyone agreed that Naomi Watts totally rocked her wavy, tousled style. Nicole Kidman's strawberry blonde locks, cut into a face-flattering bob, made her gorgeous complexion glow. Jennifer Anniston hit the red carpet with an Oscar-worthy version of her immortal California girl hairstyle, while Scarlett Johannson made jaws drop when she appeared sporting a rocker-girl hairstyle with shaved sides and a swept-back crown. All in all, it was a night full of inspiration for those of us looking to refresh our hairstyles or go for something completely new. Stylists everywhere should start getting ready....
