It started in the spring/summer season with stylish pieces such as gilded hair pieces alongside simple circle barrettes or jewelled slides. Headbands were also a big statement in the summer with a variety of materials and textures coming into play. The obsession with accessories continues into winter and picks up even greater pace with all the major fashion brands using them to enhance their collections. Crystal clips, leather headbands and gilded bows have been seen on various catwalks during the AW shows including Docle & Gabanna, Prada and Chanel. Other noticeable trends were twisted pearl necklace style hair accessories, neat headbands and pretty brooches used to add a classical twist to hair during the shows at Stella McCartney and Balenciaga. To keep your head warm and dry during the colder season there were two major hat trends. Our favourite was a trend for riding cap shaped hats seen on most of the major catwalk shows including Kenzo and Pucci. The second trend was for beanie hats with Gucci leading the way. The scale of accessories for the season range from the subtle enhancements to eye-catching headdresses which could be ideal for special occasions such as Christmas parties or New Year's Eve celebrations. One of the benefits of hair accessories are that they can add a twist onto a style you use often to freshen things up and add a little excitement for a special event, while also enhancing your chosen outfit. This seasons accessories can also work with almost any hair style or length meaning everyone can feel included in the trend. Celebrities already big on this trend include Keira Knightly and Nicole Kidman who have paired simple and classic hairstyles with bold accessories.
