Hair oil doesn’t have to weigh you down, or be limited to an at-home treatment. Our Velvet hair oil formula is light and nourishing – great for taming unruly curls but also for supporting fine, dry hair. We’ve put together 7 ideas for using hair oil that you might not have considered.

Before washing your hair

At least 15 minutes before you shampoo your hair, add a few drops of hair oil to the lengths and ends of your hair. It will help protect your locks if you use a harsh shampoo. The oil will also smooth the hair and could ease detangling, too.

Before blow-drying your hair

We all know that applying heat to your hair can be damaging. Protect your locks by adding a touch of hair oil before you use the hair dryer. It will help retain moisture and smooth cuticles.

Instead of blow-drying your hair

If you don’t have time to blow-dry your hair, squeeze any excess water out with a towel and lightly work some hair oil through. Finger comb it and leave it to air dry. The oil will help reduce frizz and lend a more polished look.

Highlight your curls

After washing and conditioning your curls, scrunch some hair oil through your hair. If you can let it air dry, the oil will help the curls to form naturally with less frizz.

Reduce sun damage

Summer sun can be harsh on hair. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, apply some hair oil and put your hair into a braid to reduce exposure. Wearing a hat can help, too.

Save your ends

Use hair oil as a deeply nourishing treatment for your ends when you are between styling appointments. Use it routinely to help reduce split ends overall, or as an aid for when things are getting a little rough.

Reduce pool damage

Chlorine can be so harsh on hair, particularly when it’s coloured. Give your hair a chance by popping on some hair oil before donning a swimming cap. This should provide double protection against pool chemicals.
